Only Natural Pet Herbal Defense Organic Shampoo

We were recently contacted about doing a review of several products from the Only Natural Pet Online Store. One of our choices was the Easy Defense Flea & Tick Tag which very much intrigued me.

In Mississippi the fleas are horrid flesh eating creatures that can reproduce at a rapid rate.  I've always used natural preventatives until last summer when we became overwhelmed with fleas.  Everything I tried would knock them down only to see them regroup with a vengeance.  As a last resort, we had the house and yard professionally sprayed.  For the first time I had to begin using a spot on treatment laden with chemicals. Each month I would cringe as I applied Frontline between Kirby's shoulder blades.  I always did it on a morning I would be home so I could keep a close eye on him fearing the worst, grateful he survived.

When Only Natural Pet heard I had recently seen a flea on Kirby, they graciously decided I needed to review three products to benefit from the full coverage - the shampoo, the ___, and the tag.

To give these products the best chance I had the house and yard professionally sprayed this afternoon which will be repeated in 7 days.   Then I bathed Kirby with the Herbal Defense Organic Shampoo

I appreciate the natural, safe ingredients: Organic Calendula Extract, Organic Chamomile Extract, Yucca Extract, Ginkgo Biloba Extract, Kelp Extract, Neem Oil, with Essential Oils of Organic Lemongrass, Citronella, Clove, Patchouli, Catnip, Pennyroyal & Soybean - in Purified Water; Organic Aloe Leaf Juice; Disodium C 14-16 Olefin Sulfonate (surfactant); Oleyl Betaine (surfactant); Citric Acid; Panthenol DL; Hydrolyzed Soy Protein; Glycerin (vegetable based); Organic Jojoba Oil; Sodium Benzoate (preservative); Potassium Sorbate (preservative); Ethyl Hexyl Glycerin (vegetable based).

I love what it did for Kirby's coat: soft, shiny, and manageable.  There is a conditioner if you should need it. I was worried about the shampoo stinging his eyes but he didn't show any signs of irritation as I scrubbed him from nose to tail.   Kirby has been getting a bath with a neem shampoo which has a strong scent. This shampoo has a fresh clean but slightly spicy fragrance which I liked and it didn't bother Kirby's sensitive nose at all. I also like the fact it doesn't take a lot to produce a creamy sudsy lather which easily rinses out.

The 16 oz bottle sells for $13.99. The 16 oz conditioner also runs $13.99.  I would say this is a great value for a natural product that works.

Kirby had a second bath with the shampoo today with the same great results.  A huge plus is he isn't scratching.  Actually the only complaint I might have is that the shampoo makes his coat so soft I have to cut the fringe over his eyes shorter so it won't fall in his eyes.  It's that good!

Only Natural Pet Store was founded in 2004 with the belief that just like humans, pets thrive from natural living and a healthy diet. All of their products are created with this philosophy.
