We recently received a package of goodies from Best Bully Sticks in exchange for sharing one of our recipes Pumpkin Puppucinos. In that box was a bag labeled "Bully Flakes". The second I saw it I knew it would become one of their top sellers.
How do I know this? Because the one treat the Kirbster loves more than any treat in the world is the one treat I cannot make - Bully Sticks! I did try to make them one time but it so grossed me out I much prefer to purchase them.
This 4 oz bag of finely shredded bully stick flakes can be sprinkled over dog food or even fed right out of the bag. Kirby would easily scarf down the entire bag in under five seconds but of course i had another idea in mind.
I wanted the bully stick flavor to be THE flavor so I kept it simple using brown rice flour and mixed vegetable baby food, both of which have mild flavors. These were a major hit and I'm quite sure an ongoing favorite!
Cook Time: 20 minutes
Nutrition facts: (does not include the bully flakes) 15 calories each, 1 calories from fat each Total fat: 0g or 0% (0.1g saturated fat, 0.0g trans fat)
- 1 ½ cups brown rice flour
- ½ cup Bully Flakes
- 2 (4 oz) jars mixed vegetable baby food
- In a large bowl thoroughly mix the ingredients.
- Knead dough slightly and Roll out to ¼ inch thickness. Cut shapes with a bone shaped cookie cutter.
- Bake at 350 degrees for twenty minutes.
- Remove to a baker’s rack to cool.
These will keep up to a week in an air tight container in the refrigerator or up to four months in the freezer.
